About Me:I double majored in college in Criminology and Government & World Affairs. I am well educated in these topics and have studied in other countries to gain a better worldwide perspective on the broader issues of criminal justice and government. I think a diversified education is far more effective than a narrow one. I am passionate about what I personally believe, BUT I will not discount new perspectives simply because I prefer my own. The only time I discount perspectives right from the start is if they are put forth in an illogical, ignorant, and/or uneducated manner. Basically, this means I am open-minded to educated, well-reasoned, and concise thoughts or beliefs. I have the utmost respect for those who come to this site (and any debate forum) and use solid facts and logical thought to portray their perspectives on any given topic, without needing to become overly emotional, combative, unsophisticated, and deliberately provocative to "prove a point."
Activities:I enjoy traveling, reading books, playing with animals (especially puppies), surfing the internet, hanging out with friends, talking about diverse topics, going to concerts or theater performances, taking lots of pictures, listening to awesome music, running, and watching movies... My interests are diverse, as well: puppies, small furry animals, guys, cuddling, turtles, squirrels, travels, trains, photography, fluffy pillows, soft comforters, computers that actually work, people who fix stupid computers, politics, Barack Obama, Eddie Izzard, crime, British humor, Dane Cook, Ryan Reynolds, deranged people, psychology, drugs (studying them, not doing them), chocolate, baking yummy goodies, swimming, music, books, environmentalism, sustainability, the Florida Gators, movies, food, and involvement. Speaking of involvement: Remember, remember, to vote in November!
Beliefs:I think Christopher Marlowe said it best: "I count religion but a childish toy, and hold there is no sin but ignorance." I consider myself Agnostic. I have very strong opinions on this and if you try to explain how your "god" is the best (or how I'm "doomed for hell"), then I'll probably laugh at you (in my head usually), but listen up to a point. I have faith, but it's in people. I believe that people have at their core the will to do the 'right' thing without the need for a supernatural being to guide them. This does not always ring true, such as in the cases of the criminally insane; but a sickness of the mind is not something one can be blamed for. I also don't think that a belief in a "god" will make you a more moral person. As my studies in college prove, I believe in the law and punishment of man. I will admit that it can be flawed and occasionally corrupt (unfortunately), but it, on the whole, is a working system.
Books:Anything by Nora Roberts, Sandra Brown, Stephen King, David Baldacci, Laurell K. Hamilton, Stephenie Meyer, Christine Feehan, Dave Barry, J.K. Rowling, James Patterson, Lisa Scottoline, Patricia Cornwell, John Sandford, and others. I highly recommend "Good Omens" by Neil Gaiman & Terry Pratchett, The "In Death Series" by J.D. Robb, The "Anita Blake Series" by Laurell K. Hamilton, The "Twilight Saga" by Stephenie Meyer, and others that are equally exciting. I also read many types of non-fiction, as well. I enjoy books about history (Roman, Greek, and Egyptian are favorites of mine), politics of past and present, odd myths or urban legends (which could be considered either fiction or non-fiction, depending on your beliefs), (in)famous crimes and criminals, secrets of religious sects, and other random topics. Textbooks are especially great, as long as they cover a topic I am interested in.

Quotes:All that is gold does not glitter, not all those who wander are lost; the old that is strong does not wither, deep roots are not reached by the frost. From the ashes a fire shall be woken, a light from the shadows shall spring; renewed shall be blade that was broken, the crownless again shall be king. - J.R.R. Tolkien
