About Me:I come here to be influenced by the knowledge others offer, and perhaps influence others with what knowledge I have to offer. A heated debate is a bad debate, but a good one provides people with in-depth knowledge of both sides of an argument in a peaceful and respectful way. I spend most of my time doing research on topics that interest me such as science, religion, and economics. I enjoy being informed by learning about competing views from people who hold them. Although I'm sympathetic to the theory of evolution, I remain unconvinced. It is my favorite topic to debate. My religion is Messianic Judaism (not an option on the list). My observance of the Jewish tradition is close to that of Reformed Judaism. I currently attend a Reformed congregation. In spite of what's listed on my profile, I'm actually in my late twenties. I have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science.
Activities:Debates, video games, programming, biking, chess
Beliefs:I'm a deeply religious man and hold myself to a high moral standard. However, I believe America should be a free country where others may act on their own beliefs, even if I find their actions stupid or immoral. My greatest values are love and truth. We should think of others as being equally valuable as ourselves, no matter how much we may disagree. We should be honest with others and ourselves.

The Tanakh describes Messiah as Divine

Pro shall show that the Tanakh describes Messiah as being divine. In other words, Messiah may be rightly called G-d. Con shall show that the Tanakh does not support pro's claim. First round is acceptance. Any other round may be used as the debater deems fit for winning. This can be a very controversial debate among different groups. I request voters provide in their RFD at least one specific argument they believe wasn't well met and why. I want the two debaters to understand why one perso...

The Bible does not favor a pre-tribulation rapture

For this debate, the Bible contains the standard 66 books used by most Protestants. Pre-tribulation rapture is the belief that Messiah will remove all His followers from the earth just before the prophetic time of tribulation. This interpretation is portrayed in the "Left Behind" series of books, some of which became movies. 2000 Elo is required to vote using the "select winner" system. Con will contend that the Bible clearly teaches a pre-tribulation rapture. As Pro, I will contend that thi...

Science has rendered theism unreasonable

There is a chronic tension between agnostics and theists where both sides believe people who believe the other side are unreasonable. I often see names called by both sides. As one who believes both belief systems are reasonable, I intend to defend the position that modern science has not rendered theism unreasonable. To win, Pro must show that modern scientific knowledge provides overwhelming evidence that there does not exist a god. To win, Con must be able to reasonably address all argume...
