Pro

Gentrification displaces the poor. Gentrification harms society. This is all I will start off with. Debate open.

Con

Gentrification by itself is a great idea but provided that everything has its own pros and cons, We decide on the basis of whether the pros surpass its cons or the cons surpass the pros.
The process of renovating the environment (i. E. Gentrification) is a natural process. We have been renovating the environment since the beginning. From living in caves up till now, The change has been continuous. Dubai is great example of a gradual gentrification. The whole idea of gentrification is to renovate the environment in response to the technological progress. The reason for the developed countries to be called as developed countries has always been gentrification.
Now coming to your argument
"Gentrification displaces the poor, Harms the society"" these are the problems that are limited to a certain community or a group of people and their impact can be lessened by successful policy of the government.
So, Rather than preventing the gentrification, Which is a reason for our advanced civilization, We should focus on the policies to reduce its painful effects on the people.
